[코리아나미술관] 《Step X Step》

지난 20년간 지속적인 큐레토리얼의 실천을 통해 ‘신체body’를 다각적으로 연구해 온 코리아나미술관은 《Step X Step》을 통해 두 발의 움직임을 경유하는 몸짓과 수행성performativity에 주목하고, 그로부터 발화되고 있는 것들을 살펴보고자 합니다. 전시 제목에 반복해서 쓰인 ‘스텝step’은 걸음, 걸음걸이를 뜻하는 단어이자 댄스에서 동작의 단위가 되는 발의 움직임을 의미합니다. 전시에서 걷기와 춤추기의 스텝은 서로 교차하며 공동의 안무를 구성합니다.

‘걷기’라는 일상적 행위를 각기 다른 안무적 시선으로 탐구하고 있는 국내외 예술가 7인/팀의 작품을 통해 개별 몸짓이 촉발하고 있는 다양한 사유, 그리고 예술적 전략과 실천을 각자의 걸음으로 마주하며 발견해보기를 바랍니다.

In the autumn of 2023, the Coreana Museum of Art commemorates its 20th anniversary with the international exhibition Step X Step. Over the past 20 years, the Coreana Museum of Art has been exploring the multidimensional aspects of the 'body' through continuous curatorial practices. Through Step X Step, the museum aims to focus on the gestures and performativity associated with the movement of two feet and to examine what emerges from them. The repetition of the word 'step' in the exhibition title refers to the unit of movement in dance, signifying the motion of the feet in walking and dancing. The steps of walking and dancing intersect in the exhibition, forming a shared choreography.

Through the artworks of seven international artists/teams, each exploring the everyday act of 'walking' from different choreographic perspectives, the exhibition hopes to help visitors discover the diverse meanings and artistic strategies that individual gestures evoke. All the while, it encourages them to confront and embrace these meanings with their own steps.
